Here is the cease and desist letter that was sent by an outside attorney hired by the City to threaten a lawsuit if all the incriminating youtube videos about James Butts weren't removed from the internet , destroyed and none even made again.

And here's the Federal Judge's Final Ruling stating...I'm a paragraph.

Take a look at this list of just some of the many media outlets that covered the case, including dozens of prestigious sources in commercial TV news, Public TV, Print news, Radio, and many major Law Enforcement, Legal, Academic, Civil Rights, Consumer and Free Speech organizations, as well as Intellectual Property, Technology, Business, Finance websites  and organizations and not one of  them  wrote  a story  supporting  James Butts' and the  City  Council's bogus lawsuit:

CBS News,  KTLA News,  FOX News,  KCET,  the LA Times (7 stories),  the Washington Post,  the Washington Times,  the Sacramento Bee,  the Fresno Bee, the Chicago Times Post,  the San Francisco Chronicle,  the Crescent City Times, the San Jose mercury News,  the Star Tribune,  KOGO News Radio,  the First Amendment Coalition,  the  National  Coalition  Against  Censorship,    Public Citizen  (founded  by  Ralph Nader),   Californians  Aware, the American Bar Association,  the California Bar Association,  the Cincinatti Bar Association,  the California Bar Journal,  the Association of Deputy District Attorneys,   the New York Prosecuters Training Institute,  USC's School of Law,  UCLA School of Law, the Loyola Law School,  Ohio State University, Stanford University, the Columbia Journalism Review, USC's Annenberg School of Journalism, Harvard College, Lennox Elementary School District in Inglewood,  Compton Business Journal,  Lexis Nexis and many other industry and news outlets, organizations, websites and blogs.  NONE of these entities supported James Butts' and his Council's bogus lawsuit.   Many  said that  it  was  an  obvious  waste of tax dollars and/or a deliberate attempt by Butts and his Council to silence Free Speech.

Channel  9's  political reporter, Dave Bryant, tried to confront James Butts after a City Council meeting,

trying to ask Butts why he was spending tax dollars to sue a resident for usings public records that were

paid for by tax-payers.   But James Butts apparently didn't have a good excuse, so he refused to be interviewed.

This is the disturbing, but unfortunately not surprising, story of how James Butts' gigantic ego drovehim to waste  almost  200,000 Inglewood tax-dollars on  a frivolous law against  a  critic of his, losing the case and bringing national condemnation down on Inglewood's City Council.

According to the Inglewood City Attorney and other City records, without any documentation supporting the action, with all legal precedents warning against it and without any official discussions between the City Council members about it, James Butts desperately attempted to use a laughable lawsuit to remove  (and destroy)  six internet  videos  that exposed his misconduct!

The  six  videos  about Butts,  which used clips from public records  (city council meeting videos), were very effective  in  exposing  James Butts'  consistant use of lies, intimidation  and  violations of  Civil Rights and the Law.   The lawsuit (which Butts approved about $70,000.00  to litigate) was so frivolous that it was  thrown out of Court  and the City Council was ordered to pay over $117,000 to the resident's legal defense team.

"Mayor" James Butts Violates Civil Rights And Unethically Wastes Almost 200,000 Tax Dollars To Try To Hide Evidence Of His Misconduct:

The L.A. Times, the largest and most prestigious newspaper in L.A. County,  ran  no  less than  7  stories on James Butts' selfish lawsuit in only 5 months. Most Times' stories openly questioned both the motivation for (hiding misconduct), and the merit of, James Butts'  attack of Free Speech.

As we will see, just about every possible aspect of American media and society condemned James Butts' abuse of the Court system.   TV, Radio, Newspapers, Websites, people of different ages, genders, races, religions and professions, all saw that  James Butts and the Inglewood City Council's bogus copyright lawsuit was actually an attempt to censor Free Speech and attack a critic who was publicly exposing political corruption in Inglewood.

NOT ONE reputable news outlet said ANYTHING positive about James Butts' lawsuit.  In fact, there were only two "throw-away" papers which blatantly misstated the facts and seriously underplayed the Civil Rights/Free Speech aspect of the case.  The first paper was "Inglewood Today," which depends on business from the Inglewood city Council to survive (and whose publisher was ordered by a Superior Court Judge in 2013 to stand trial for libel), and the other was the "L.A. Wave Nespaper," which also profits from business from the city council.

So, to begin the story of how a crooked Mayor, got a crooked council, to hire a crooked attorney to do something crooked, let's start with the lies that were told to the public by the the apparently "crooked" L.A. Wave "Newspaper."

<---

The biased writer even highlights a dishonest quote from James Butts saying that the lawsuit had nothing to do with trying to limit Free Speech. Conveniently, the writer avoided any of the Federal Judge's comments in his Order, saying the exact opposite.

Please note that the biased "writer" of the article describes and even quotes comments from James Butts and what  the  she  described as "many" who agreed with the Mayor's idea to risk $200,000.00 on a law-suit.  However, even though she admits that Mr. Teixeira was at the meeting, the writer does not use Mr. Teixeira's comments or any of the comments from the "many" public speakers who were against the waste of tax dollars.

The Editorial Board of the L/A. Times, the largest and most prestigious paper in Los Angeles, is made up of about 10 print journalists of different ages, genders and backgrounds.  The Board was so disturbed by James Butts' use of a bogus lawsuit to try to censor a critic, that they wrote a very critical article, which ended by stating that if James butts and his council didn't like being criticized for what they did at council meetings, that they should resign.

Here's the letter given to Inglewood's City Attorney's Office, time-stampted on January 6, 2015, two months before the City filed the lawsuit.  This document also proves that Joanna Esty lied, and that, in fact, I repeatedly tried to negotiate a resolution to the matter out of court.

And here's the Federal Judge's tentative ruling, which states, that the Judge was going to dismiss the case because the City Council had no Right to copyright the council meeting videos and even if they did, the youtube videos about James Butts were not violations of copyright.  In fact, the Judge stated about the videos about Butts, that he could hardly imagine videos that were more Constitutionally protected.

And here's the Federal Judge's Final Ruling stating not only that the City Council had no legal Right to copyright videos of City Council meetings, but that even if they did, the videos that they sued about were "quintessential" examples of what American Citizens have the right to use copyrighted materials for when making political commentary.

Here's the staff report James Butts and the council approved giving another $50,000.00 to Joanna Esty.

And here's the Federal Judge's Order that the Inglewood City Council pay over $117,000.00 in legal fees to the defendant because the Judge said that the lawsuit was so "objectively unreasonable" that the most likely reason why the case was filed was an attempt to retaliate against Mr. Teixeira for publicly criticising James Butts.
