Now, you may think that it would be easy to find the articles below on the internet; you could just put in James Butts' name, or "Mayor of Inglewood" and the articles would just pop up...  However, it's not that easy.  You see, in early 2015, James Butts was nationally exposed as being a liar, a law-breaker and a Civil Rights violator, both in the courts and in the media.  By 2015, several scathing youtube videos were made about Butts, videos that used portions of Inglewood city council meeting videos, which are public records paid for by tax dollars.  These videos very simply pointed out what a crook butts was by showing him being a liar, a bully, a hypocrite and being incompetent on video.  This embarrassed Butts so much that he led the Inglewood City Council off a cliff into a doomed copyright lawsuit, where Butts claimed that even though the council meeting videos were public records, paid for by taxpayers, no one but the city could use them for anything.  Butts lost that lawsuit and Inglewood was forced to pay $117,000.00 in attorney's fees for filing a frivolous lawsuit.

           Butts knew that he was being made a fool of, so he sought to have those embarrassing videos destroyed and keep any other videos like them from being made, but after he lost the lawsuit, and was nationally embarrassed, he then began using hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to have other videos made which either made him and the council look good or just... cluttered up the internet with stories and videos that would come up if his name, or many things about Inglewood, were Googled.   Butts' desperate, pathetic, illegal and LOSING lawsuit cost taxpayers almost $200,000.00, subjecting Butts and the council to widespread ridicule from around the country from Civil Rights organizations, Free Speech organizations, journalists, and many, many reputable sources.   So if James Butts couldn't get rid of the videos which were embarrassing him, his plan to spend hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to hide those and other critical videos in a mountain of city-created videos on the internet  And this plan has been moderately successful.  He has used his and his staff's time and the tax dollars of Inglewood's residents to create countless youtube videos and fake news videos to muddy the waters about his corruption. 

          For the first time in the city's history, taxpayers began to see thousands of dollars of their money being paid to create large amounts of video content about James Butts, the council and the city of Inglewood.  Month after month, it was not unusual to see payoffs of thousands and thousands of dollars in City Council meeting agendas going to individuals for making all kinds of videos, many of which were unnecessary, amateurish and appeared to blatantly violate copyright law.  One individual in particular, Thomas Bunn, who was the frequent recipient of thousands of dollars a pop of tax dollars (just one payment on Inglewood's warrant register is shown below), had previously been found to have deliberately, fraudulently, illegally and blatantly misled Inglewood's residents in order to try to defame a critic of James Butts.  This fraudulent defamation was part of a scheme that included, but was not limited to, James Butts, Mr. Bunn, the owner of the City of Inglewood's official newspaper at the time, "Inglewood Today News," the paper's owner/editor Willie Brown, and a soon-to-be Inglewood Planning commissioner, David Rice.  Mr. Brown just happened to be a paid political consultant to James Butts.

        Mr. David Rice was apparently rewarded for his help with elections, including his participation in the scheme to defame Butts' critic (Rice is documented to have blatantly lied to the public in council meetings, perjured himself in court filings and later committed Contempt of Court by repeatedly evading a subpoena and not showing up to court when Mr. Brown and his paper were sued for defamation), by being appointed to the Inglewood Planning Commission. 

       After the Judge saw all the damning evidence, he ruled that Mr. Brown was likely guilty of defamation (assisted by the doctored video-making of Mr. Bunn).  Facing an almost guaranteed loss, Mr. Brown was forced to pay both a settlement AND remove Mr. Brown's defamatory writings and Mr. Bunn's defamatory doctored videos from the internet.  Willie Brown was also forced to print months of retractions of his defamation, both in his newspaper, on his website and on the internet as a whole. 

          Now, James Butts knew that Mr. Bunn worked for Mr. Brown.  And James Butts knew that Mr. Brown's and Mr. Bunn's unethical and fraudulent activities were specifically meant to mislead Inglewood residents.  And James Butts knew that Mr. Brown's and Mr. Bunn's actions were determined by a Judge to have been likely illegal and James Butts knew that Mr. Brown (And did I mention that Mr. Brown was a paid political consultant for James Butts) was forced to pay a settlement for Defamation and publish many retractions.  But knowing all this, James Butts not only kept paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to Mr. Brown and his little ad-rag, but he also approved Mr. Bunn being hired as a vendor for the city, making apparently most of Inglewood's community-based videos.  And, then... Butts went that extra mile for his minion and approved Mr. Bunn being hired as Inglewood's "Video and Social Media Manager" (see salary chart below).  In fact, Mr. Bunn's usefulness as a propaganda goon for Butts, creating hours of online content to hide negative stories about James Butts, something James Butts values very highly, led to James Butts approving Mr. Bunn's city salary to shoot up over 500% in only 4 years, to a whopping benefits package of $158,736.56!    That's who James Butts and his council give Inglewood's tax dollars.
